Multiple Levels Of Investigation
Cognitive science is a cohesive discipline because its practioners all agree that "cognition is information processing". But what does it mean to say that cognition is information processing? One answer to this question leads us to the notion that information processors must be explained at multiple levels of analysis: computational, algorithmic, architectural, and implementational. This idea stems from the work of David Marr, and is detailed in this week's lecture material.
